Pick the JOOLA Perseus for an all-court elongated paddle, the Hyperion for the same 16.5 by 7.5 inch size with an aero-curve head, and the Scorpeus for the widest, most forgiving face. Then choose the 16mm core for control on resets or the 14mm for faster swings.

JOOLA sells the same shapes at several price tiers. The name on the face tells you the shape; the suffix, Pro V or CFS, tells you the build.

Below you get four Amazon picks, the maker’s specs side by side, and a calculator that turns any list price into cost per hour of play.

JOOLA Scorpeus Pro V 16mm

What is the difference between JOOLA Perseus, Hyperion and Scorpeus?

The difference is the shape: Perseus and Hyperion are both elongated at 16.5 by 7.5 inches, while Scorpeus is shorter and wider at 16 by 8 inches.

Perseus has rounded top corners, and JOOLA says that keeps the sweet spot centered while the extra length adds reach on volleys. Hyperion uses an aero-curve head that JOOLA pitches for hand speed in fast exchanges at the kitchen.

Scorpeus gives up half an inch of length for half an inch of width. JOOLA sells it as the most forgiving face for blocks and resets, which suits doubles players who win most points at the net.

Should you pick a 14mm or 16mm JOOLA paddle?

Pick 16mm if your game is resets and dinks, and 14mm if you want quicker swings; JOOLA describes the trade the same way.

The weight gap is small in JOOLA’s own figures: 0.2 oz on every Pro V shape. The feel gap is bigger: JOOLA describes the 14mm as faster and livelier, the 16mm as more forgiving.

Grip size moves with the signature version, not only the core. The Ben Johns Perseus comes with a 4.25 inch grip in both cores, while the Simone Jardim 16mm Perseus has a slimmer 4.125 inch grip for smaller hands.

Is the JOOLA Pro V worth it over the CFS?

Pay for the Pro V if you want the 14mm option or the textured raw carbon face; otherwise a CFS gives you the same Perseus or Hyperion shape for $140 less at list price.

JOOLA lists the Pro V core as polypropylene with carbon fiber and EVA foam, and builds a patent-pending KineticFrame into the throat. The CFS models use a carbon friction surface and come in 16mm only.

The Pro V and Perseus CFS pages both list a 12-month warranty with registration. Every Pro V is certified by both USAP and UPA-A, which matters only if you play sanctioned events.
